Mauvaise Chance, Early Morning

Jenny'd gotten a date with Rupert for Friday, and had gone out on a hike yesterday with Su Pevensie, only to discover dryads living in the Preserve, and a creek from another world flowing out to the ocean.

She'd thankfully spent two days having avoided thinking about the fact that she hadn't seen Rupert in eight years, and that she was still twenty-seven. Rupert was, what, fifty-something now? Which was just a bit of an age gap. And it wasn't like they'd exactly parted on the best of terms, though apparently all was forgiven when Angelus left her body to be found the next morning on the landing of Sunnydale High School.

And now they were going out to dinner on Friday night. She had no idea what to wear. What did people wear on dates these days? Su wouldn't know; she was from the forties. Maybe Natalie? She'd maybe give a call to Natalie later. Besides, she owed her an explanation on that whole girl-that-turned-pink-when-she-sneezed thing.

"Okay, breathe, Jenny," she whispered. She glanced at her computer. Today's lesson plans were downloading onto her flash drive, so she could toss that in her laptop case, then run to the school to get ready for her classes. But first, she had a bit of research to run. Time to start hunting down Su's brothers and sister. She'd mentioned them last night, but they were probably back in the forties. Still, maybe they'd be willing to come and visit. She certainly wouldn't welcome a call from her aunt or uncle, the way she'd talked about them when Jenny'd helped Su with her laundry. So, time to start the newspaper archive search on the names 'Pevensie' and 'Alberta,' and see if she could find something.
