Workshop Description
An exploration of nature and nature magic via practical exploration of the local environment of Fandom Island. This workshop will involve knowledge of the local flora and fauna, geology, and also contain information on what to avoid that has been culled from the workshop leader's previous experience at other schools. A student need not have a background in magic in order to take this workshop.
Class Roster
Xander Bly
Timothy Desmond
Hermione Granger
Lana Lang
Luna Lovegood
Macbeth
Briar Moss
Willow Rosenberg
Blair Sandburg
Dawn Summers
Sam Winchester
Syllabus
Week 1 (May 25): The Elements - Location: The Park
Week 2 (June 1): Magical & Edible Flora - Location: The Preserve
Week 3 (June 8): Magical Geology - Location: The Park
Week 4 (June 15): Ritual Drumming & Dance - Location: TBD
Week 5 (June 22): Nature Hike/Spirits - Location: The Preserve/Galactica Point
Week 6 (June 29): Vision Quest - Location: TBD
Week 7 (July 6): Protective Symbols/Practicum - Location: TBD
Note: Workshop sessions in the Preserve are rain or shine, so dress for the weather. Nature can be shiny and happy, but it isn't always our friend. Workshop sessions in the park are subject to the weather, so if the weather is icky, we're meeting in the psych classroom.
Workshop Rules
1. Don't show off with flashy magic. Keep it simple, and related to the workshop.
2. Non-magic users are just as welcome as magic users.
3. This is a beginning course. It's a broad overview of the subject, and if you have any questions, feel free to ask them.
4. If you're not fond of magic, or magic-users, think about why you signed up for this course. And keep your problems to yourself.
5. Nature deserves your respect. You're welcome to bring snacks and notepaper and all kinds of things along to class. Don't litter.
6. Don't disturb any creatures in their natural habitats. I think we all have learned our lessons about that from the gremlins?
7. The syllabus is mutable, depending on the needs of the instructor.

OOC Notes
1. Focus on the class is on interaction with each other, and so there are less discussion-based assignments and more interaction-based ones. Please feel free to go all handwavey on the details and just have fun.
2. There are IC rules for the class. *points up at IC rules* OTOH, they're IC, nothing OOC. If you want to break them, go for it. I trust you guys to use your good judgment on that, and while there may be IC consequences, unless you actively harm someone else, chances are good Jenny will let things slide (especially if you apologize).
3. Actively harming someone, with magic or by mundane means, is one of the few things that will bring Jenny's vengeancy wrath down on you hard. The consequences are all IC, but if you want to do this during a class, please just give me a warning that it'll be happening.
