Friends Only

This was formerly a roleplaying journal for Fandom High, but has been abandoned for several years now. It's friends only. I'm getting very tired of having to log on to delete spam comments.

I've defriended everyone and removed my contact information, but left commenting enabled for friends only specifically because I don't want to delete the roleplay record.

Mauvaise Chance #1, Thanksgiving Day

Jenny had the door propped open. Football was playing on the TV, her was laptop off to the side, booted up and running a search, and she was poring over the Ching Tai take-out menu while she waited for Lana to arrive. Maybe they'd go to the group Thanksgiving later, depending on how the game was going.

Office Hours

Jenny. Office hours. It traditionally meant coffee, a laptop, and research. This time, it also meant 80's rock music blasting, possibly at a volume that was a little too high. The door was closed, but not locked, and if you knew Jenny at all, you knew that you could open it right up and walk in.

The Field Museum; Chicago, IL, Sunday - All Day

Jenny and Su had shown up at the Field early. "So our tickets for the Tutankhamun exhibit are for right after the museum opens," said Jenny, pacing in the entryway. "At least they're letting us wait in here. But can we avoid the South American stuff? I heard via the occult grapevine they have stuff used in sacrifices. Way bad mojo."

Chicago, Friday Night

Jenny was sitting at the kitchen table, drinking from a styrofoam cup, swilling what was possibly the strongest coffee she'd had since...well, the last time she'd visited her family. Strong coffee would be fine, but this stuff had been left on a burner for at least half a day.

Unfortunately? At least five of her aunts and uncles were screaming at each other in a mixture of at least three different languages. Jenny had been sitting here, twisting her styrofoam cup, trying not to sigh loudly enough to draw attention to herself. Su's plane had landed probably a couple, three hours ago, and she was supposed to be taking the train to Jenny's family's apartment.

Gods, she hoped Su got here soon. Then she'd have an excuse to bug outta here and get some real food.

Jenny'd gotten a date with Rupert for Friday, and had gone out on a hike yesterday with Su Pevensie, only to discover dryads living in the Preserve, and a creek from another world flowing out to the ocean.

Mauvaise Chance, Monday, Around Dawn

An interdimensional portal opened up, and Jenny stepped through into her apartment's living room, laptop case clutched protectively. She'd stepped off the Knight Bus, only to discover that instead of being back in Fandom Town, she was in Romania, where her entire family--including her grandmother, who was pretty damn scary when she was mad--had called her to account for going off on a trip to England when Angel was dying in Fandom Town.

"What, I don't deserve half a week off from vamp-watching duty?" muttered Jenny. Of course, it was the fact that said half a week coincided with just the time that Darla had gotten ahold of Killer of the Dead and poisoned Angel with it that was really the problem. "Sure, let's torture the guy emotionally, but dead is too easy, so let's call a kris for the chick we've stuck with watching Angel." Because dead was apparently too easy for her too.

She booted up, logged in, and checked the date and time. "Monday morning? I still have quizzes to write! Damn it."

Subject: Classroom Absences

Hey, guys -

Some of you are racking up a lot of absences in my classes. You might want to come and see me about making up the time during my office hours or turning in an essay. Because otherwise I'm going to have to assign some more detentions, and I'd rather not be stuck doing that.

Also, let's do some prep work: You guys are all going to be doing units on dream interpretation. Keep track of your dreams, write down the ones you remember, and pick one out--I'd say the most vivid or the one that's the most emotionally affecting--to bring to the next class.

Thanks, guys. Enjoy your day off! And don't bother starting the prep work until tomorrow.

OOC: Two things - First, Kristy Thomas, I'm given to understand, has had some RL access issues, and so is handwavily excused for her absences.

Second, looks like the dream interpretation unit (which will take up two class periods) is going to conflict with Mac's day of shop class craziness, and I can't see a good way to change this so it doesn't conflict with that. However, for anyone who's going to be skipping out of one of Jenny's classes for that--we can find a way to let you at least participate in some of it.

OOC: Question For Jenny's Students

What I'd like to do for next week's classes depends upon you guys being willing to do a little extra work.

I'd like Jenny to assign you guys to keep a dream journal. Which basically would mean you guys would have to write up one dream for your characters. I'd say maybe a paragraph's worth of detail? Then next week on Monday, you'd analyze your own dream and another person's dream (with that person's name removed) during class and turn it in as written homework.

On Thursday, you guys would talk about how your own interpretation of your dream varied from someone else's interpretation of your dream. And you would get feedback from the entire class on the dream interpretation. In no way do I have OCD threads already planned out for this. Really.

I think this sounds like a lot of fun, and I've been saving this "unit" for a while. Please let me know if you're interested in this, because like I said--it's extra work compared to what I normally ask for in classes. So I don't want to slam you guys with something that's too much for you.

I've actually been doing a lot of prep work with the Jung students on the unconscious and archetypes and stuff, but Magical Theory and Psych 101 will be getting a lecture on dreams next week that will get them ICly ready for a dream interpretation lesson.
